About Peninsula Youth Softball Association (PYSA)

League Information

Peninsula Youth Softball Association is a nonprofit, recreational fastpitch softball league in San Diego for girls ages 5-15. We are a "B" level league affiliated with USA Softball. Originally founded in 1966 as Peninsula Girls Bobby Sox, our league became Peninsula Youth Softball Association in 1994.

The league attracts girls from central San Diego's coastal communities, including Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and Bay Park, as well as neighborhoods in Mission Hills, Hillcrest, North Park, Downtown/Golden Hill, Old Town and many more! Our girls come from more than 25 local schools, and many of the players have sisters in the league.

Our teams play and practice “softball by the sea” at Robb Athletic Field, which is located just off highway 8 in beautiful Ocean Beach and adjacent to the San Diego River. For a map of fields, see Field Locations.

How to Join Us

See Seasons to learn about our recreational league and how to start playing with us.

The league hosts an annual Cool Breeze All-Star tournament in June that attracts hundreds of girls representing leagues from all over San Diego County.  For more information, see Tournaments.

For girls who want to further develop their talent and skill, we encourage them to apply for our All Star or Select seasons.  Our Peninsula Breakers All Star program typically fields 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U teams. In addition to PYSA’s own Cool Breeze tournament, our Breakers teams participate in regional All-Star tournaments across San Diego County, followed by the USA Softball district and state tournaments.

Please see our FAQ or contact us with any questions and to join in the excitement, camaraderie and fun of softball by the sea. We look forward to seeing your daughter playing out on the peninsula!

Our Mission

PYSA is committed to providing an enriching team sport experience to the young girls from the community. Our mission is to teach the fundamentals of softball and instill in its members the principles of good sportmanship, leadership, and team work though organized and supervised clinics, practices, and games. Our league strives to build a strong sense of community in an environment that is fun and instills a life-long love of the game.

Youth softball teaches discipline, builds character, increases confidence, and creates special memories that last a lifetime. In addition to softball skills, our girls learn about dedication, hard work, and leadership. They develop friendships with girls from different schools and backgrounds. As players transition to middle school, often they are in the company of friends they have played with for years at PYSA.
